Strong growth for Maritimo leads to expansion in New Zealand

by Imprint Media on 6 May 2010
Maritimo Paul Ruston
Luxury boat builder Maritimo continues its aggressive international Dealership expansion with the appointment of Orams Marine in New Zealand to represent the company's Aegean and Sport Cabriolet lines.

The new Dealership is based at the Orams complex in Beaumont Street, Westhaven in Auckland.

Maritimo's Peter Jenkins said that Dealer principal Neven Barbour and his team would work closely with Don Senior at Maritimo New Zealand who will continue to represent the company's Motoryacht and Offshore Convertible lines.

'Our business in New Zealand has grown so well that we decided to add more resources to our sales efforts there,' said Mr Jenkins. 'Don has done a great job over the past six years and his focus will remain with our popular Motoryacht and Offshore Convertible models.'

Mr Barbour said the Maritimo brand represents exciting opportunities for luxury boating enthusiasts in New Zealand.

'The lines are constantly expanding and the new sub-50-foot models are going to be particularly attractive to our market,' he said.

'We were drawn to the Maritimo brand by their commitment to R&D and to constant expansion of options for their clients. For example the new C47 Sports Cabriolet that will be unveiled at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in May represents incredible value with its open cockpit for entertaining, large accommodation space and IPS pod propulsion.'

Mr Barbour said he had first worked with Maritimo CEO Bill Barry-Cotter 10 years ago when Orams began distributing his Mariner brand in New Zealand.

'Bill Barry-Cotter has developed a great reputation for building superb offshore boats,' said Mr Barbour. 'We are excited to be working with him and his team again.'

According to Peter Jenkins, Neven Barbour and his team will add valuable capabilities to the company's sales program throughout New Zealand.

'Neven is well known throughout the boating community for his commitment to his clients and after-sales service,' he said.

Mr Barbour is renowned throughout New Zealand not only for boating but as an athlete and former national squash champion.
