Molly awarded the SDAYC 2009 Yachtswoman of the Year Team Tunnicliffe
Last weekend Molly was recognized at the San Diego Yacht Club's Opening Day as the San Diego Association of Yacht Clubs 2009 Yachtswoman of the Year (SDAYC).

The SDAYC Yachtswoman of the Year award is presented to the local female sailor who has performed well throughout the year, who has given back to the sport, and represents the sport in a sportsmanship-like manner.

This was the first time that Molly was nominated for the award and won it. On winning the award, Molly said, 'I am very honoured to have been recognized among the best sailors in Southern California.'

SDYC's opening day is also a big event for the yacht club as it marks the official start of the season. The perpetual award was given to Molly with her hometown crowd watching and cheering for her. 'It was great to have the hometown support for what we are doing, despite us competing internationally most of the time,' said Molly.

'It's great to have so many people believing in what we can do, and having all of this support.'

Molly won this award for her results in 2009 in the 470 class in which she was a crew member. She was also very successful last year on the match racing scene and the keelboat scene.

Some results included first at the Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championships, second at the Rolex Osprey Cup, third at the ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final, and was nominated for the second year straight for the US Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year.

Molly is now here in France preparing with the rest of Team Tunnicliffe for the Semaine Olympique Francaise, the fourth stop of the ISAF Sailing World Cup. Racing starts tomorrow morning for the team.

We would like to thank Carmeuse and Trinity Yachts for their support of our campaign for the 2012 Olympics. We would also like to thank USSTAG for their support.
