The Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club sailing duo of Guy Tipton and Matt King were winners of the North American Fireball Mid-winters held March 12 to 14 in Tampa, Florida.
Race Organizers at the annual Fireball and Friends Regatta had to postpone racing on the opening day, Friday, due to severe thunderstorms and tornado watches. Action resumed on Saturday and Sunday which featured a total of seven races. Tipton and King posted first in six races and placed second in the seventh race. 'This was a great regatta for us. The experience of sailing in similar conditions to the upcoming Worlds Competition in Barbados is very helpful'.
Their boat is now being prepared for the container shipment to their next competition which will be the 'Internationals' and 'Worlds' being hosted in Barbados from April 24 to May 7.
