This week Maltese Falcon confirmed that they will take part in The Superyacht Cup Palma, June 23–26, 2010. The iconic superyacht, from Perini Navi, at 88m is the largest yacht to have ever taken part in The Superyacht Cup. Maltese Falcon always draws a huge amount of attention wherever she goes with her radical rig configuration and stylish design. The tallest of her three freestanding and rotating masts reaches over 58m and she carries a total of 15 sails, creating a sail area of 2,400 square meters. Designed by Gerard Dijkstra, with exterior and interior styling by Ken Freivoch, Maltese Falcon was launched in 2006.

'We are very excited to be taking part in The Superyacht Cup again this year. For us, it is all about combining the excitement of the sailing and the fun of the social events. And Palma is such a great location; we are really looking forward to it,' commented Chris Gartner, Captain of Maltese Falcon.

Finding somewhere to berth an 88m yacht is not always easy, but Astilleros de Mallorca, a long-term supporter and Silver Sponsor of The Superyacht Cup, will accommodate Maltese Falcon for the duration of the event. Their deep outer pontoon, which faces the Superyacht Cup Village, will provide a central berth with easy access; close enough to soak up the lively atmosphere which takes over the regatta village each afternoon after racing.

With only around 18 – 20 spaces available on the dock, interest is building quickly. Recently confirming their participation are Anny (designed by Judel Vrolijk and built by Baltic Yachts) and Ithaka (designed by Doug Peterson and built by Jongert). Both yachts took part last year and are full of enthusiasm to return. Two new yachts to join the line-up are Irelanda (designed by Hoek and built by Alloy Yachts) and Blue Diamond (designed by Gilles Vaton and bult by JMV).

After the excellent feedback last year, sponsors are again keen to support The Superyacht Cup. In the case of the leading marine suppliers, the event provides an invaluable opportunity to show their products and services to a key audience, as well as enabling them to join in the fun of the regatta. Astilleros de Mallorca, Alloy Yachts, Rolling Stock, North Sails and Rondal have all returned as Silver Sponsors. For them, its the perfect environment to mix with industry friends, clients and yacht owners, share ideas, and build business. All leaders in their field of expertise, it is great to welcome them back on board to enjoy the Palma regatta again this year.
