Little sailing yesterday, heavy winds today in World Sailing Games

by ISAF & Scuttlebutt on 5 Jul 2002
Mistral winds of 35 knots+ this morning have delayed all competition, a
decision was expected at 2 PM this afternoon as to whether to abandon all
racing for the day. In the meantime, competitors are being treated to
kite-sailing demonstrations on Marseilles Bay by Pascal Maka and others...

What a difference a day makes: yesterday the winds were so light that only
the J22 blue fleet was the only group to race. The tricky conditions on
Marseille's bay required the sailors to show tactical skills. France's
Christine Briand and her team performed very well again finishing in first
place.
