Australian luxury boat builder Maritimo experienced an excellent show, with three vessels confirmed sold and plenty of interest from prospective buyers. The President of Maritimo USA, Dave Northrop, is smiling following success at the Miami boat show.
The luxury boat builder expanded its offering at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show year and saw immediate reward.
'Buyer optimism was much improved and Maritimo enjoyed the highest number of retail sales ever at a Miami Show,' said Mr Northrop. 'The established motoryacht models were the top sellers as they have earned a loyal following of enthusiastic owners.
'That said, the Sports Cabriolet series are selling as fast as we can unload from the ship in the USA,' he said.
'Many of our clients are gearing up to visit the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in Australia in May, anxious to see the two new models.'
Overall attendance was down by about 10 per cent doen on expectations according to show organiser Skip Zimbalist.
'The show is free so we don't have attendance numbers,' he said. 'But we can gauge attendance by how much food and beverage was sold. We had budgeted it to be down by 12 per cent, but it was off by only 10 per cent.'
Severe winter weather in the US Midwest and Northeast, combined with unprecedented snow in the South, kept many would-be show-goers away.
