Barry Bailey, well-known industry identity named as ’the man’ for Vicem Yachts in the Asia Pacfic region. Barry Bailey
American expatriate Barry Bailey, now residing on the Queensland Gold Coast, has been named Asia-Pacific representative for prestigious Turkish manufacturer, Vicem Yachts.

Renowned as a builder of luxury, classic motor yachts and now, megayachts with its first 150-footer under construction, Vicem Yachts' CEO Alberto Perrone Da Zara said the Asia-Pacific region 'holds great potential' for the marque.

Bailey will be responsible for the Asia-Pacific region concentrating on new and brokerage sales across the company's three model lines – the Classic, Cruiser and Sportfish series.

'Barry's experience and knowledge of the clientele I the Asia-Pacific region will be valuable assets in raising our profile, building the Vicem brand and drive our expansion plans in this growth area,' Mr Da Zara explained.

Bailey is a qualified yacht sales executive with ore than 30-years experience in the marine manufacturing and retail industries.

He was co-founder of Maritime Consultants and Management (MCM) based in Hong Kong and handled large yacht construction and management contracts worldwide.

Through MCM he formed an affiliation with Brunswick Corporation as a sales and marketing consultant, identifying and establishing dealers throughout the Asia-Pacific region for Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and Baja brands.

This eventually led to his appointment as the company's Asia-Pacific manager of operations in 2000.

For the past four-years, he has been responsible for international sales for Cobalt and Grady White boats and Sumerset Houseboats.

Bailey said he had always aimed at working for and with prestigious brands.

'I am excited to be joining the Vicem sales family and look forward to representing the marque to my clients and to making inroads for Vicem in this lucrative market place,' he added.

Originally from Washington state, in the far north west of the United States, Bailey has lived in the Asia-Pacific region since 1988 and settled in Australia in 2000.

He is a licensed captain and has twice successfully circumnavigated the world aboard traditional, timber sailing vessels.

Bailey will focus on sales of new and pre-owned Vicem yachts through the company's brokerage division.

He will also represent the company at all major boat shows throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

I will be meeting up with Barry, whom I have known for some years, at the Miami International Boat Show next week and will bring a detailed report on the Vicem rage to Powerboat-World readers.
