Riviera's popular 5800 Sport Yacht has taken design to a new level with the first 5800 with lower galley and alternate saloon option delivered to its Sydney, Australia owner this week.

The lower galley option is ideal for those who enjoy formal entertaining, as the separate galley provides a discreet area for food preparation while the saloon features two huge lounges on either side of the boat, to the port the plush lounge wraps around the dinette table, while the starboard side includes a huge u-shaped lounge complete with pop up TV at the end, perfect for chilling out or conversing with guests and comfortably seating 12 adults.

Since the 5800 Sport Yacht's world release in May 2009, Riviera has achieved in excess of AUD$10 million in sales with boats being sold to owners in Italy, Auckland, Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

Building on the success of the impressive standard model, the lower galley option is tipped to be popular with those who enjoy entertaining providing the family chef or crew a private gourmet galley complete with quality appliances including electric induction three-element cooktop, two drawer fridges and two drawer freezers, a convection microwave oven, dishwasher and solid-surface benchtop, a stainless steel underslung sink with mixer tap and generous storage.

The saloon windscreen serves as a massive skylight above the lower galley providing an abundance of natural light while an opening port-hole at eye level gives the chef a good view and plenty of sea breezes.

Riviera's new product development concept design manager, Neil McCabe said customers were fascinated with the 5800 Sport Yacht's power, precise handling, smooth ride and low engine noise.

'The Sydney owners do a lot of corporate entertaining so the lower galley option and huge saloon is very attractive to them, and being their first Riviera I am sure they will be impressed with the layout as much as the boat's performance,' Mr McCabe said.

'Boating journalists from international magazines are raving about the new 5800 Sport Yacht's wow factor as well as the space, comfort and design of this luxury cruiser.'

The Riviera 5800 employs Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, forward facing, propellers. This system offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking. Volvo Penta IPS also offers up to 30 percent better fuel consumption than traditional shaft drive systems. Three Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesels rated at 435hp each are standard.

'The 5800 just delivered to Sydney is fitted with two aft IPS docking stations with joysticks located on the port and starboard side of the cockpit giving excellent sight lines to the rear of the boarding platform, making docking in close quarters a breeze,' said Mr McCabe.

Riviera offers 20 different models from 36 to 85 feet across four model series Flybridge, Sport Yacht, Offshore Express and Motor Yachts.
