Australia's ISAF Vice President David Kellett awarded Order of Australia

ISAAF Vice President and Australian Sailor David Kellett has been awarded an Order of Australia in the Queens Birthday Honours announced on June 10th.

The prestigious Australian award is for 'Services to the community and the sport of yachting both in Australia and Internationally and as a competitor'

Kellett became a Vice President of the International Sailing Federation in 1998
(The first Australian to be elected to the world Executive of the Sailing Federation) having been Australia's ISAF representative councillor since 1992.

He is the President of the Yachting Association of NSW

Kellett is an experienced Offshore and America's Cup sailor. He skippered Sovereign to line and handicap honours in the 1987 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. He has competed in the Sydney to Hobart race 28 times, including last two years as head of the Race communication team aboard the radio relay vessel. He is a Past Commodore of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia

One of the owners of the Australia's Sydney Yachts, he is still regularly races a Sydney Yachts built Sydney 60 in East Coast events. In January 2002 he skippered the Sydney 38, Next, to a win in the Sailing South Race Week in Hobart.
