Unique hull design proves a winner for Tricon Marine

Depending on choice of power, this stunner can offer a range up to 4000 nautical miles. - unique hull design proves a winner Argos Yachts http://www.argosyachts.com/
Sea trials have been completed successfully off Palm Beach, Florida, for the superb Argos Gulfstream, a magnificent 28.0-metre (92') motoryacht from Tricon Marine.

The vessel features a hybrid hull design which has a rounded vee entry giving the vessel effortless displacement speeds and the ability to slice through challenging head seas at higher speeds.

Designed by the renowned hydro-engineer/marine architect Howard Apollonio, the G92 has hard chines aft keeping her remarkably stable at lower speeds and allows easy planing and the ability to hit higher top speed than typical displacement boats can achieve.

During her sea trials, this impressive vessel showed extremely ‘long legs'; running at 8.5 knots she used a mere eight gallons an hour or better than one nautical mile per gallon.

With her 4000 gallon fuel tanks, an Atlantic Ocean crossing would not be out of the question for the G92. Top speed was 27 knots, while a consistent 23 knots was achieved at 70 percent engine load.

Extensive tank testing was carried out and numerous hull configurations were developed and fine tuned during the process.

Deep propeller tunnels and an extended keel improve tracking in choppy seas and provided added protection to the hull, while her low profile and centre or gravity significantly reduce roll and enhance seaworthiness.

The hull has actually been purpose designed and structurally reinforced to achieve speeds up to 35 knots depending on chosen power. Her advanced hull design allows for a broad range of engines, from 600hp Volvo Penta to V-16 MTU, offering 35 knots when desired.

Engine employed during her sea trials was the proven Caterpillar C32 delivering 1650hp and offering a 3000 nautical mile range at 9 knots.

Internally, the G92 can only be termed ‘luxurious.'

A tri-deck layout and split level sundecks give her the capability to carry large tenders and even a helicopter pad.

Privacy for owner and guests was a prime aim of the designers.

Her accommodation comprises the master stateroom, three additional guest staterooms and two crew quarters forward which have been placed so as not to infringe on the owner's salon, aft deck or other ‘personal' areas.

The master stateroom has been termed a ‘sky suite', the designers claiming the G92 is the only motor yacht under 120; to offer an upper deck master suite, which offers 270 degree panoramic views.

Other internal layout options are available, with the designers and builders offering to work closely with prospective buyers to achieve the design to suit.

Tricon Marine CEO Christos Livadas and Senior V-P David Adams believe on-going communication is the secret to ensuring a prospective owner receives the vessel that meets every expectation.

They will work with the owner through every stage of the build, from design and layout through to the eventual launch, supported throughout by expert project managers and skilled craftsmen.
