2010 Contender World Championship, Bless the Volunteers!

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron appointed a highly experienced team of Volunteers for the 2010 Pre-Worlds and World Contender Championship. Led by Volunteer Coordinator Dugald Henderson and International Race Officer Alan Carlisle, the team will now take a well deserved break until the Australia Day weekend of racing at RQYS.

'We had a awesome time looking after the racing for these sailors. They have been wonderful to work for,' said IRO Alan Carlisle.

'We always have a great time running regattas,' said Henderson. 'The team prides themselves on providing professional race management and we have a great time doing it.'

The team uniform for the final day of racing for the World Championship was Hawaiian shirts to celebrate end of the tropical regatta.

'This has been one of the best regattas we have ever held. It's been a lot of fun and we hope the Contender sailors go home with fond memories of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron,' said Regatta Director Suellen Hurling.

'Next time your class association is looking for a world class venue, or just somewhere to have a great time with sailing on the side, then come to RQYS. We would love to have you here and look forward to meeting many more sailors in the years to come,' said Dugald Henderson.
