Seatec 2010- where industry meets

by Jeni Bone on 10 Jan 2010
Seatec, the International Exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships held at CarraraFiere. MIAA
Italy's premier marine trade expo, Seatec 2010, the 8th year of the international exhibition for technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships is due to take place at CarraraFiere from 10 to 12 February 2010.

Seatec is the only exhibition in Italy exclusively focussed on boatyards and shipyards suppliers. The presence of two influential sectors makes Seatec a useful venue for marine professionals to meet and network.

Exhibitors are companies involved in the production of components, equipment, mechanical parts, raw materials, third parties works, design and services for the marine industry. Visitors include owners and technical staff from boatyards and shipyards, Brokers, consultants, Ship owners, Ports and port authorities, importers and distributors of raw materials, instruments and finished goods.

Seatec credits its success to a formula of the ideal setting of CarraraFiere fair complex located on the Tuscan coast, its duration of just three days, high concentration of industry professionals, and opportunity for meetings.

The venue is strategically located in Central-Northern Italy, on the border of Tuscany and Liguria. Within easy reach of any means of transport, it is at the centre of a dense fast-connecting network of airports, railways and motorways.
In 2009, the show boasted 963 exhibitors and 11,380 visitors, 10% of these foreign.

For the fourth year the expo will run the design competition “Abitare la Barca” (Living on Board) with the theme: Open motor boats, maximum length eight metres, with particular attention to low environmental impact.

The entrants, university students at the Faculties of Industrial Design, Nautical Engineering and Architecture selected by their professors to enter the competition, will be competing for the prestigious award designing in a specific area during the first two days of the Seatec exhibition.
