CYA's 2009 AGM and Conference highlighted the way forward for the organization and indicated to the Board key steps in the strategic planning process.

One of the foundations of a progressive organization is an appropriate staffing structure and CYA is pleased to announce the following appointments:

Genevieve Manning, currently Executive Assistant, is appointed to the position of Office Manager. Gen, who has been with the CYA for 10 years, will take on full responsibility for the head office functions, including Board support, PSA and Club liaison, database maintenance and official languages.

Sarah Case-Moscrop, currently Racing Technical Coordinator, becomes Training and Competitions Manager. In this role, Sarah, who has been with CYA for 5 years, will continue to lead the Long Term Sailing Development programme, oversee all training functions and carry out her previous role as Racing Technical coordinator. CYA will recruit a training and competitions administrator to support Sarah in her work.

David Howes, formerly Training Technical Coordinator, has left CYA after nearly 5 years service. CYA thanks David for his loyal service and wishes him the best in the future.

While the High Performance management structure remains the same, CYA is in the advanced stages of finalizing the High Performance Strategic Plan which will see clear definition of roles and responsibilities within the Canadian Sailing Team support structure. Recruitment of a high level coach resource will take place shortly.
