The 'Most Significant Involvement of a Female' trophy has not been awarded every year and is only awarded for exceptional people. Lisa Simonov take a bow!
Lisa Simonov has embraced the J24 Class, now being a half owner in her second J24 ‘Make My Jay’. In the last year Lisa has sailed her J consistently in club racing, State Championships in Victoria and NSW, Sailed in the Asia-Pacific Championships in Adelaide and sailed in the Gosford Regatta in NSW.
In the last few years (also taken into account due to the non award since 2006) she has also sailed in National Championships, the 2006 World Championships, Geelong Regattas and club racing.
She has embraced ‘her’ foredeck, the mid-deck and an appreciation of sail trim, handling mechanics, sea and wind conditions and remains an avid student of all parts of the boat, racing and sailing in general.
She also competes on an equal footing in various sized club and other class boats, being a part of winning women’s crews, club and State S80 Winning Crews.
Not bad for a girl from the snow and ice of Moscow who has only been sailing for six years.
