Bavaria Sport Yachts – German craftsmanship to the fore

The craftsmen and women of Germany have earned a worldwide reputation for the design, skill, attention to detail and overall craft applied to numerous products, from BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz on the automotive front to Zeiss cameras and Steiner binoculars.

Identical standards are applied to the very fine craft produced by one of the world’s largest boat manufacturers, Bavaria Yachts, a company turning out more than 4000 vessels annually, nearly half the number comprising the Bavaria Sport Yacht range.

With such a stylish array of sportboats on hand, it probably comes as no surprise that the company called on a subsidiary of the BMW Group, Designworks USA, to help craft its newest range.

Largest of a newly released trio of sport yachts, the Bavaria Deep Blue 46’, has already been nominated as European Yacht of the Year in the up to 50’ category.

The two remaining models in the range, the Bavaria Sport 38 and the Bavaria Sport 28 were released just two months ago.

Tony Ross, managing director of Gold Coast-based Ensign Ship Brokers, an authorised Bavaria dealer, rates the marque very highly indeed.

'They boast a standard of finish that impresses all who have seen them,' he said.

'Sheer craftsmanship is obvious at every turn, from the overall design, through the luxurious interiors to the impeccable engine room fitouts,' he added.

Senor Andres Cardenas, CEO of Bavaria Yachts, said the company was particularly excited at the nomination of the Bavaria Deep Blue 46 as European Yacht of the Year.

'We see the Deep Blue 46 as an individual character in the market and believe me, it rates as a real eye-catcher,' he said.

'It will be offered either as an open sportboat or in a SportTop configuration and next year we plan on launching Bavaria’s very first flybridge design.

'We’re confident the Deep Blue 46 will achieve similar acceptance to that of the Bavaria 30 SportHT which last year was named European Yacht of the Year in the up to 30’ category,' he added.

Bavaria’s classically-styled Sport 28 was unveiled at the Norwegian International Boat Show for the first time in September.

It is a superb example of making maximum use of available space, for those on board this smart vessel could be forgiven for thinking it is at least a 30-footer.

This is a vessel with design elements, generous space and practicality throughout, every aspect featuring the high quality standard of finish for which the company is renowned.

The Bavaria Sport 38 is based on a similar design concept to the Sport 28, but with its additional dimensions presents as an exciting vessel in every sense.

'Implemented in accordance with premium design standards and meticulous attention to detail, the Sport 38 merges dynamic, powerful proportions with maximum comfort and spacious generosity rarely found on a vessel of this size,' Senor Cardenas explained.

Both the 28 Sport and 38 Sport are offered with a range of power options comprising either Volvo Penta or MerCruiser engines in either gasoline or diesel configuration.

The fabulous ‘flagship’ of the new range, the Deep Blue 46, is a sight to behold.

It may well have sporty and dynamic lines, but it also has a very commanding presence when compared with similar craft.

It is definitely a performer to boot, available with dual 330hp or 370hp Volvo Penta diesel engines, either choice giving the Deep Blue 46 genuine sportboat performance right through the speed range.

Optional floor plans allow for either a two or three cabin layout.

It seems a certainty that with these three new models, Bavaria Motor Yachts has again come to the fore in terms of design, finish and performance characteristics.

At this stage, we’re not sure of Australian distribution of the new craft, but if Ensign Yacht Brokers’ chief Tony Ross has his way, it won’t be too far into the future.
