Silver Sails Racing (Samantha Osborne, Jenna Hansen, Genoa Griffin Fedyszyn and Raynor Smeal) is in St Petersburg, Florida, USA competing in the Osprey Rolex Cup and sent through this report:

Day 2:

Hey everyone,

Another 8 races were completed today and we came through with 5 wins and 3 losses.
So we've finished round robin one and there are 3 remaining races to finish round robin 2.
A reasonable day to mark Sam's birthday.......

There are 5 teams fighting for semi final positions.
Silver Sails racing is in the hunt and will require a strong performance tomorrow.

Racing continues to be tight and the team is thoroughly enjoying the regatta.
It is 'smoking' hot here, you would never guess it was winter.
The lunch break on shore was a bit of a surprise but greatly appreciated as we maximised our time out of the sun.

St Petersburg Yacht Club continues to host a wonderful event. There effort and organisation is truly commendable.

The team cherishes the support from Yachting New Zealand and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Regards,

Day 3:

Hello to all,

Unfortunately our regatta has come to an end, we finished in 5th place.

Conditions continued to be magical however our day was tough from the beginning.
We didn't go down without a fight, every race was so close (great for the spectators) but we were just never first to the finish for the races that counted.

We continue to add new situations and rules that we have encountered over the last few days to our match racing campaign.
We definitely didn't get the results we wanted but we got the intense racing that we travelled for.

Looking forward, the team head home later this week and look forward into putting some solid hours into training for regattas in a few months time.

Thank you for all your support especially to the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Yachting New Zealand.

Cheers,

Silver Sails Racing
