SATELLITE TRACKING DURING THE COASTAL CLASSIC
Orb Communications is providing SPOT GPS Satellite Tracking devices for 10 yachts to use in the 2009 HSBC Premier Coastal Classic allowing you to track the position of some of the race favourites. SPOT uses the GPS satellite network to acquire its coordinates, and then sending its location - with a link to Google Maps - and a pre-programmed message via a commercial satellite network. You can follow the progress of these yachts at
http://www.orb.co.nz/hsbc-premier-coastal-classic.html
during the race.
NEW FROM MOUNT GAY RUM
From your favourite rum makers comes a new smooth Silver rum - keep your eyes out for this before Christmas.
13-YEAR OLD TO SKIPPER FARR 727
Edwin Delaat is barely a teenager, but he will be skippering his own boat in this year's HSBC Premier Coastal Classic. Racing aboard the Farr 727 Crac-A-Jac, a boat which he dreamed about owning since he was four, and saved for by doing odd jobs for over three years, Edwin is sailing with several older and more experienced adults, but keen to call the shots.
As well as hundreds of miles on the water, Edwin has a string of qualifications to his name, starting with a VHF Certificate earned when he was nine, and a Boatmasters Certificate. He took part in last year's HSBC Premier Coastal Classic aboard Starlight Express, but is aware that completing such a long race in such a small boat, will be a very different experience.
Good luck Edwin, we will be watching out for you.

Ti Point Winery
Situated atop the Ti Point peninsula on the stunning Matakana coast, this tiny vineyard flourishes on family owned land. The vineyard is planted in the finest red Bordeaux clones and three generations of Haslam women tend and nuture the vines - Tracy (winemaker and mother of four), her mother and grandmother with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren being passed from hip to hip. The full-flavoured, seamlessly layered wines are supple, sexy, and very food-friendly.
