NSW Maritime has granted Exclusive Use Aquatic Licences to the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games Organising Committee, and to Yachting NSW, to conduct aquatic events associated with the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games.
The Events will take place between Saturday 10 October and Sunday 18 October 2009.
The locations and times for the Events will be:
Sailing (Sydney Harbour East and Iron Cove)
daily from 10.00am to 6.00pm, from Monday 12 October through to Friday 16 October;
Canoe Kayaking (Nepean River at Emu Plains)
From 7.00am to 10.00am and 4.00pm to 7.00 pm on Monday 12 October
From 9.00am to 4.00pm, from Tuesday 13October to Wednesday 14 October;
Open Water Swimming (Chowder Bay, Sydney Harbour)
from 8.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday 17 October, with a day held in reserve on Sunday 18 October .
SPECIAL EVENT AREAS / EXCLUSION ZONES
NSW Maritime declares Exclusion Zones will be created at the following locations and times:
On the Nepean River at Emu Plains daily from 7.00am to 4.00pm, from Monday 12 October through to Wednesday 14 October, between the Western Motorway Bridge and
At Chowder Bay, Sydney Harbour within the area comprised of a line drawn between Chowder Point and George’s Head from 8.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday 17 October, and if required, on Sunday 18 October at those times.
The Exclusion Zone will be marked by yellow aqua-buoys, and will be monitored by control vessels who will advise boaters of the restrictions.
DIRECTIONS
All skippers must comply with these controls, and any directions from Maritime Boating Safety Officers, to help in the safe running of these events. Penalties apply.
Remember to:
Keep a proper lookout at all times;
Keep to a safe speed;
Minimise the impact of your wash;
Observe distance off requirements; and
Show navigation lights at night.
