The 2009 Soling World Championship, hosted by the Etobicoke Yacht Club in Toronto is underway. Today there are cloudy skies, 24 degrees is forecasted as the maximum, and winds around 10 knots from North West.

Solings started to arrive during the week, mainly the local Canadian ones, but this morning many US boats started to arrive, and more are expected for tomorrow and Tuesday, which is the last day of Measurement.

Some former world champions are expected today. From Brazil comes current South American champions George Nehm, Marcos Ribeiro and from Germany Roman Koch, Maxl Koch and Gregor Bornemann, the current European champions.

They will be facing the finest Canadian top level competitors with famous sailors such as Billy Abbott sailing with Paul Davis (NOR) and Peter Hall with Phillip Kerrigan and Gavin Flinn. Another world champion Hans Fogh with Roger Cheer and Gord Devries, will compete. From the USA comes Peter Galloway and Charlie Kamps not forgetting the Legendary US sailor Stuart Walker at the age of 86. In the Austrian contingent is the former Olympian sailor Georg Stadler and Volker Moser.

Races will start on Wednesday and will go till Sunday, nine races are scheduled starting at 11:00 am with many social activities, guide available online: www.soling.com/downloads/2009worldsguide.pdf
