OMYC/Thai Raver race to Sattahip

by OMYC Media on 26 Aug 2009
The annual race weekend to Sattahip, with overnight stay, is one of the traditional highlights of the OMYC sailing calendar. This year the event is counting on the generous sponsorship of Dick Sanders of Thai Raver, and will take place over the weekend 12/13 September. Race briefing will be at 0930 hrs on Saturday, and an informal raft-up will take place at the Ocean Marina verandah on Friday evening before the race.

The programme includes a Saturday race to Sattahip. After arriving in the Bay near the YRAT office in the late afternoon, we will all have a Thai dinner in a nearby restaurant. The yachts will be left at anchor overnight and the next morning we will race back to Ocean Marina. The Royal Thai Navy and YRAT is extending their usual invaluable support to us, including rubber dinghy services in the bay.

We have also arranged for a limited number of rooms at the Sattahip Navy Base Hotel at THB750 per room. Should you wish a room please contact Khun Pum at .

Alternatively, should you require transport back to the Pattaya area, please co-ordinate with your crew colleagues. As a last option we shall arrange for a mini-bus to be available for transport to and from Ocean Marina. Non-sailing family and friends wishing to participate in the dinner at Sattahip are most welcome.

We are currently finalising the budget for the event – however, expect the entry fee to be THB600 per person, including dinner and a reasonable volume of beer. As we need to make a commitment to the restaurant, kindly let us know by 04 September whether or not you intend to participate, and the number of persons.
