#43 Seagull Chaudron’s throttleman Angelo Tedeschi admits he will leave no stone unturned in his quest to retain his status as World Champion at next months Sicilian Grand Prix of the Sea.
Tedeschi’s team are being chased by the all-Italian boat, #38 Baia Attolini, who are looking to claim their maiden title - a challenge that isn’t being taken lightly by the current World Championship leaders.
'Leading up to Sicily we will being doing some intensive checks on our boat,' confirmed the Naples-born pilot. 'The crew will test until we are convinced everything is right.
'Nobody knows but in Sweden we had a couple of problems during practice which was lucky because if it was during the race we wouldn’t have performed as well over the weekend.
'Without doubt the nearer we get to the race, the less sleep the team will be getting.'
Despite Seagull Chaudron not winning a round since the Sprint race at San Benedetto del Tronto in July, Tedeschi is confident in his boat’s ability to claim top spot.
'We would have won the Endurance Race in Italy if it wasn’t for one of the Evolution boats slowing down at the first buoy.
'Also, after over speeding in Turkey, we wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again so we have been very careful, it’s so easy to make a mistake and be penalised for it.
'The team knew this season was going to be very challenging but if we managed to finish on the podium consistently we would be in a good position come the final race.
'We won’t change the way we drive, I don’t think it is needed, lets just do out best and hope it is good enough.'
Tedeschi, along with team-mates Aaron Ciantar and Viktor Shemchuk, lead the SuperSport standings by 28 points from Baia Attolini with two rounds of the 2009 season remaining.
