Rupert Murdoch- The yacht's out for charter

It seems even media moguls can be short a Euro or two in times of recession, because home-grown tycoon Rupert Murdoch's yacht Rosehearty can now be yours for a mere €210,000 (A$350,000) per week.

The white 56 metre (183ft) aluminum yacht is from Perini Navi with hull lines from Ron Holland and a sleek, almost austere interior by French designer Christian Liagre. She has carbon furling booms. Interestingly, Rosehearty is a sister ship to the earlier Burrasca and Santa Maria. Benefitting from those two previous builds, she has a deep swing keel, set within a shoal ballasted fixed keel.

It boasts five spacious suites, several luxurious salons and a gym. So you can take along up to nine friends to enjoy the luxury, and there are nine crew to cater to all your needs. Among the cabins there are two identical VIP suites with Queen berths, two identical queen berth cabins each with single berths and additional pullmans.

The yacht's two tenders, reportedly named Grace and Chloe after Murdoch's young twin daughters, are included, along with two dinghies complete with instructor, six sets of dive gear, and nine plasma TVs.

For a superyacht, however, the interior of Rosehearty is almost austere, featuring very minimalist lines.

The charter company CharterWorld.com is listing the three-year-old yacht for hire in the Mediterranean or Caribbean.

Hugo Andrea, editor-in-chief of the magazine Superyacht World, told the Guaardian that at 56 metres the Rosehearty was certainly 'up there' in terms of luxury and scale, but was by no means among the flashiest of vessels favoured by the super-rich. 'A few years ago that would have been a pretty sizeable yacht, but these days you regularly build up to 100 metres.'

Reportedly, the yacht has recently been cruising in Alaskan waters. Yacht watchers have relayed that fellow Aussie Mel Gibson was on board during that cruise and the yacht has now arrived back in British Colombia.

However, it was not this yacht, but a previous one, the Morning Glory, that Murdoch used for his wedding to current wife Wendy Deng in New York Harbour in 1999. Morning Glory was later sold to Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister.
