The Hobie Asian Championships is returning to Hong Kong with the BDO Hobie Asian Championships 2009, held from October 2nd to 4th. This will be the fourth running of this successful and popular Asian regatta, and the third time it has been organised by the Hong Kong Hobie Club. Entries from Thailand, the Philippines, Japan and India, amongst others, will join local Hong Kong based sailors of a dozen other nationalities on the racecourse.
This will be the largest and most competitive catamaran event in Asia in 2009, a superb opportunity for Asia-based sailors to test their skills against other Hobie racers in the region. Races will be held off Hong Kong Island’s Tai Tam Bay, an area that reliably provides some of the best sailing conditions in China’s Special Administrative Region. With title sponsor BDO Limited, and supporting sponsors AGS Four Winds Hong Kong, Neil Pryde, as@p direct, the Aberdeen Boat Club, Fragrant Harbour, Hobie Cat Australasia, IBS HK Ltd., the Dublin Jack and The Boathouse, the focus will be on providing the Hong Kong Hobie Club’s usual blend of friendly but highly competitive racing, with social functions taking advantage of Hong Kong’s famous nightlife.
A number of competitive Hobie 16s and Tigers will be available for charter.
The Notice of Race, charter details and full schedule are available on www.hobie.com.hk.
