Hobie 16 North Americas - Final report

Puerto Rican sailor Enrique Figueroa has won his seventh North American title in the Hobie 16 class sailing with the young Victor Aponte.

Figueroa and Aponte solidified their victory on Friday with two race wins and a four. Winds were finally out of the thermal directions allowing the sailors to double wire for the first time in the series.

The change of conditions shuffled the top three a bit with Guatemalans Jason Hess and Hugo Guzman working their way back into second place despite having to count an OCS, throwing out a DSQ.

Pedro Colon and Monica Cabrera, also from Puerto Rico moved up to third narrowly edging out Mark Modderman and Sandra Tartaglino in fourth. Geoff Becker and Krista Hankins dropped to fifth after a capsize in a race they were leading.
