Santa! For Christmas I would like a big, bright red boat

by John Curnow on 16 Jul 2009
Just launched at the beginning of July. RP lines quite discernible. - Melbourne Winter Series John Curnow
And that's exactly what Rob Date got. Started just before Christmas 2008, this new Composite Constructions built Reichel- Pugh designed CC52 is resplendent with lots of really cool toys and come tonight, she'll be on her way North to play in the sun (with a heap of Diesel onboard to ensure she can get there by Saturday night).

Completing the build in that sort of time frame is a credit to the Composites Constructions team in Braeside.

Barely a few weeks old, thhe beautiful new Scarlet Runner has already hit mid 20's reaching away on Port Phillip between Green Point and Fawkner Beacon last weekend, when the breeze reached well over 40 knots.

This busy girl has also been out partying with that other speed demon, 'Michael Hiatts Farr 55 Living Doll' and had the NZ Rigging team out with her too, further tuning her up.

She missed Round 1 of the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria’s Melbourne Winter Series on July 5, despite being a late entry, as she just wasn't ready. Round 2 this Sunday looks to be another good day for racing with 20+knot Nor’ Westerlies early, then slipping away as the day progresses

'Having fun' I asked her owner yesterday - 'Yeah. She's a delight. Thanks Santa. It’s the best present I've had since my new front teeth!'

Excellent and good luck in the warmer climes - we look forward to seeing her go well in the Audi Sydney-Southport and then Meridien Marina Airlie Beach Race Week.
