Celebrating their 60th year of boat building history, Elan Marine continues their positive drive forward with a new addition to their highly successful Cruiser Racer range for 2010.

Classy, cheeky and in fact the smallest in the range, the new Elan 310 makes a giant leap forward into the limelight and design with twin-rudders and a hull shape that follows the lines of the sensational Rob Humphreys’ designed Class 40 design ‘Orca’.

Elan and Humphreys set out with the clear aim that the new 310 will not only serve as a tempting lure to the first rung of the Elan ladder but also to deliver exciting sailing with sparkling performance and great user-friendly short-handed capabilities

Standing on its own podium and hailing a new era of compact club Racer / Cruiser, the bold new 31 footer offers the stellar features of long waterline, non overlapping headsail, twin rudders, retractable bowsprit and T-keel. The cockpit is spacious for absolute sailing efficiency and the well-dressed interior comfort allows the new model to also fly the cruising flag.

The distinctive new hull shape takes advantage of the twin-rudder concept to give the boat very powerful aft sections which increases the transverse waterplane inertia.

Hand in hand with this, the T-keel lowers the ballast centre of gravity, significantly allowing for a reduction of displacement to achieve an excellent level of boat speed and stability.

The result is a displacement ratio far exceeding past models of this size.

Developed as a multi-dimensional project, the new model fulfils the specifics for an easy to sail 31- footer with sophisticated sailing qualities to offer passionate sailors an affordable boat that will deliver the performance, excitement and general scope they would expect to find in a much bigger and more expensive boat.

Elan are confident the new 310 will also fulfil its mission to deliver a boat that is easy to sail, easy to run and in due course, easy to move on.

Navsail, Australian Importer echoes this with Rod Parry adding 'We also feel that in these economic times this is an excellent, well timed boat to give sailors the competitive edge without compromise to the cruising fit-out. And the big bonus here is that it all comes without the big dollar ticket.
