Peters & May handles 37m Masteka 2

by Saltwater PR on 9 Jul 2009
The 37m Masteka 2 is the largest boat Peters & May Australia has shipped. MIAA
World leader in provision of marine logistics, Peters & May recently shipped a Monte Fino from the Kha Shing yard in Taiwan to Newcastle, Australia. The superyacht was the 37m Masteka 2, the largest boat the Australian regional office of Peters & May has managed and shipped to date.

The shipment was requested by Masteka 2's captain on behalf of her Australian owner.

The shipment of the high-value superyacht was complex with a four hour dock load onto the cargo ship Cape Delfara. Prior to the load, dozens of hours of planning were undertaken to ensure safe and secure transit. Due to the boat's weight (190,000kg), crane exemption certificates where required. At discharge in Newcastle, Peters & May arranged for a tender to be available so that the husband and wife owners and the captain could view their newest arrival safely in port.

Dean Sharples, Managing Director of Peters & May Australia gave credit to his seven-strong team for securing this largest transport contract to date commenting, 'Along with the rest of the world we are seeing a lessening of both importing and exporting boats here in Australia and a rise in less experienced forwarders coming into the marine market offering discounts and incentives. However, while our customers may be doing less volume they think twice before entrusting their precious cargos to non-specialist, non-proven logistic providers.'

'Masteka's own captain recognised the knowledge and attention to detail that my team would provide for the safe delivery of the yacht in our charge.'

Peters & May has over 30 years experience in the provision of marine logistics and offers global boat transportation, freight forwarding and yacht racing logistics via air, road, rail and sea from a global network of twelve offices and numerous exclusive agencies. The company ships 8,000 vessels through more than 150 ports in over 60 countries.

The company is the preferred shipper to many of the world's leading boat builders, including Sunseeker.
