d'Albora steals the scene on soaps

by Jeni Bone on 28 May 2009
The hub of filming for some scenes for Home & Away, d’Albora Marina Akuna Bay. MIAA
Over the past six months, some familiar TV faces have been adding some drama, scandal and (fake) homicide to the smooth operations at d’Albora Marinas Akuna Bay and in Melbourne, Pier 35.

The d’Albora Marinas have been the location for filming for the popular Network 7 series, Home & Away and City Homicide.

d'Albora Marinas Marketing Manager, Natasha Jacobs explains: 'Akuna Bay has been like a second home for cast of the soap Home & Away, which has filmed a number of episodes around the dry storage facilities and along the marina fingers.'

Some episodes have screened and the next episodes will run week commencing 1 June. Eagle eyes will spot the up and coming young stars including Logie-winning Lincoln Lewis, as well as long-time TV veterans, going through their paces on what must certainly be one of the most scenic marinas in the country, set among the verdant bays of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park on the Broken Bay-Hawkesbury River waterway.

In Melbourne, Pier 35 was the ideal location for the gritty and somewhat gruesome, City Homicide.

d'Albora Marinas Marketing Manager, Natasha Jacobs says: 'The TV scenes included ambulance and police vehicles and an actor playing a dead body, lying out on the fuel dock. We were worried his makeup would run due to the spray of sea water and seasonal Melbourne climatic conditions!'

Daniel MacPherson and Damien Richardson were two of the main actors taking part in those scenes, shooting on the wet marina, at the fuel dock, the Launch dock and in the dry storage.
