B14 Nationals day 2 - Dobrijivec and Eltringham continue to lead
by Event media on 25 May 2009
After a two hour wait for the sea breeze, the B14s launched in brilliant sunshine to not much sea breeze in Plymouth at the Mayflower Sailing Club. After a few general recalls, the fleet got away from heavily port biased line in 5 knots of wind, at least from a steadyish direction today!
Nick Craig/Tobytastic Lewis and Dave Hayes/Richie Bell led from the pin end with Dave Dobrijevic/Philyis Eltringham finding new wind out right to take second at the top mark.
These three broke away with Hayes/Bell showing good downwind pace to take 2nd. Mark Watts/George Morris pulled through well to take 4th from Tim Harrison/Jonny Ratcliffe, keeping their strong series together.
Race 5 conditions were similar again with these three boats breaking away from the pin end to boringly for everyone else finish in the same order again. Harrison/Ratcliffe kept their championship charge alive with a 4th. Fleet newcomers Phil Murray/Kevin Rutherford had their best race yet to charge through in some pressure on the run to take 5th. Barnsey choked again with a 14th.
With the fickle sea breeze dying, only two races were held leaving four races scheduled Monday so all to play for, hopefully in more wind!
