‘Anarchy’ claims the Bridge to Bridge double

‘Anarchy’, with Simon McMah at the wheel, has taken the coveted double, Outright and Superclass at last weekend’s Upper Hawkesbury Power Boat Club’s Bright Print Bridge to Bridge classic.
McMah’s Bannister Marine hull with a 1400hp turbocharged powerplant, raced over the 112km Hawkesbury River course in a very quick 34 minutes, 13 seconds.
Paul Vella, at the wheel of ‘Impatient 2’, a Howard designed hydroplane with a 5.0-litre, 600hp engine, took second in both classes with Darren Greentree third home in the 351 cu in Ford-powered ‘Handfull’.
Thirty nine competitors in 21 classes turned out for the race, the 74th staging of the classic event.
Inboards, outboards, stern drives they were all their giving it their best shot.
The race certainly proved a memorable one for Vincent Russo. Russo, at the wheel of ‘Promises’ won the Social V-Drive class in a race record time of 43 minutes, 36 seconds.
Two famous names featured in the 6.0-Litre inboard class.
‘The Enforcer’, a Dodge Nascar engine-powered, 19’ Bullet with Stephen Oswald driving and ‘Headache’, an Everingham with a 5.0-litre Ford engine took first and second in the class.
There was also a famous boat name in the Offshore Class with ‘Firebird’, driven by well-known ski racer Jason Walmsley took the honours.
‘Supafortruss’, driven by Kevin Robinson, won the 8.0-Litre inboard well ahead of second-placed ‘The Eight Ball’, Andrew Sonter at the wheel.
Unlimited Outboard, SMOC and MOC posted some very quick times.
Ben Anderson in ‘Havoc 2’ greeted the chequered flag in Unlimited Outboard, covering the winding course in 43 minutes 1 5 seconds.
David Turner came home second in ‘Team Connelly’ with ‘Menace Racing’, Jason Reynolds, taking third spot.
MOC was not far off the Unlimited pace with Arthur Klonis emerging the winner aboard ‘Revolution Racegear’ from ‘Adrenalin’ (Christopher Thompson) and ‘Sweet Az’ (Aaron Sawtell.
‘Southern Cross’, Tim Fenwick driving, posted an excellent 41 minutes, 28 seconds to win SMOC Outboard from Greg Adams (‘Adams Sport Boats’) and ‘Good Hustle’ (Corey Smith).
Two boats finished in the 300hp Outboard class with Grant Jury at the wheel of ‘Demented’ proving a shade too quick for second-placed ‘Atomic 22’ (James O’Neill).

0-150hp Outboard – ‘Yamawreck’, Richard Hannon 1.
250hp Outboard – ‘Posiedon’, Brett Rogan 1, ‘Air Play’, Christopher Tate 2.
Social Stern Drive – ‘Kalawatta’, Max Craythorn 1, ‘Stampede’, Craig Dodge 2.
Social Outboard – ‘Phat Chance’, Dale Sawkins, 1.
25hp Outboard – ‘Tantrim’, Darren Skaines, 1.
Yamato – ‘Both Barrells’, Tory Myers, 1.
