If you are cruising the Big Blue Pacific, destination Opua in New Zealand's Bay of Islands, you should be aware of the Pirates that you may encounter.
This photo was obtained under hazardous circumstances ( for a photographer and his delicate electronic capture device ) as these ruthless cut throats are want to lob bombs (H2O + Thermoplastic poly-isoprene)-err...! commonly known as water balloons, at any who fall within range. Regardless of personal danger this intrepid shooter risked all to bring proof of 'the debauched pirate life' out into the open.
Clearly attired in the looted garb of their hapless victims, these ragtag swashbucklers are marauding their way through the Tall ships and Classics Regatta held annually after new years from the Russell Boating Club - a highly recomended destination.

The Tall Ships Race is an annual event in early January held in Russell, Bay of Islands, organised by Christine Hall from Russell Boating Club. The Club puts down a huge hangi for 800-1000 hungry 'pirates', every boatie and friend and probably the largest gathering in the small, but famous and historic town.
