Broadwater dredging mirage, Korea muscles up, free AIMEX/AMIF seminar

by Jeni Bone, Editor on 28 Apr 2009
This week we feature some major activity on the waterways of the Gold Coast. It seems the dredging which is part of a $36m project to beautify the Broadwater is only a means to an end – to pump out the sand required to extend two parklands. What happens next? Well, that’s up to the Bligh government, says Council, shrugging off any further responsibility.

Also news from further afield, South Korea, the country determined to become the next great marine centre. The government and regional administrators are investing millions of US dollars in recreational boating infrastructure, as well as offering massive incentives for businesses looking for JVs in the region.

The second annual boat show, KIBS is scheduled for June 4-7, so Australian enterprises keen to get in on the growth should take a look at the opportunities http://www.koreaboatshow.org/eng/index.jsp and get in touch with Graham at KOTRA in Sydney to learn more graham.worthington@kotra.org.au

We also bring you a myriad of exclusive stories – from product releases and anticipated launches at SCIBS, to innovations in marine fuel from seaweed and a free AIMEX/AMIF 'Survive & Thrive' business seminar to be held on the Gold Coast this Thursday. Get in touch with Haylee from AIMEX on (03) 9682 1255 for more info. It’s free and it will help your business in these extreme times.

Have a great week and keep the comments coming. Each week I receive emails from the Middle East to Mosman, Mumbai to Hamilton Island. Good or bad, we want your input. Far better than no response at all!

Carbon or Steel?
Moth Foil Evolution with Alex Adams Foils have been shrinking for years as sailors continually try to reduce drag and increase speeds, but designers were reaching the limit of what they could do with carbon, so the latest foils have turned to steel for some parts.
