From 15 to 18 April the Hublot Palmavela regatta will be held in Palma di Mallorca organized by the Real Club Nautico de Palma. This event will be the first Maxi regatta in the Mediterranean this season with several representatives of the various International Maxi Association (IMA) Divisions participating.

Twenty Maxis are registered at the moment and the most numerous group is the Mini Maxi Division which includes boats between 18.29 and 24.07 metres LOA. All the other are above 24.07 metres LOA.

Among them there will be some brand new boats such as Patrizio Bertelli’s Luna Rossa, new IMA Member together with Udo Schuetz’ Container and Niklas Zennstrom owner of RAN. Also taking part is the new Swan 68 Risktaker, owned by Peter Jebson and Bellamente, owned by Hap Fauth.

The IMA will be present in Palma with its Technical Officer and personnel to coordinate ratings, controls, scorings and all matters relating to the Maxi fleet and activities and will be organizing a social event.

The Maxi fleet will be racing under the IRC handicap and rating and the Class rules.

The application to ISAF to become an official ISAF Class has already been submitted and when the procedure is completed, IMA will be authorized to hold a World Championship for the Maxis.

The International Maxi Association express its gratitude to the Real Club Nautico de Palma for the excellent collaboration and for the decision to apply a special reduced entry fee for the IMA Members.
