North Harbour win Port of Napier East Coast Javelin Champs in Gisborne

The Port of Napier, East Coast Championships is a new initiative this season to encourage interclub racing and camaraderie amongst the three East Coast Yacht clubs of Napier, Wairoa and Gisborne, and to encourage smaller classes to hold their National Championships, within the East Coast Region.

The East Coast Championship regattas concluded in Gisborne with the Javelin Class. It was held in conjunction, with the 85th Sanders Cup and decided on handicap. The young North Harbour team of Stuart Goodes and Ollie Scott-Mackie on Havoc, took out 1st place, Northland’s Craig Gilbert and Antje Muller sailing Bungholio took 2nd and Auckland’s Zac Lam and Kez Cameron sailing Bad Blood took 3rd.

The East Coast championships have been very successful and has seen 12 New East Coast Class Champions determined and the Gisborne Yacht Club take out the East Coast Interclub Championships, from Wairoa Yacht Club in 2nd and Napier Sailing Club in 3rd.
