Electronic Control Diesel joins Yanmar’s Pleasurecraft Engine line-up

by Connexion PR on 7 Mar 2009
CX 530 - Yanmar Marine Connexion PR .

The 6CX530 is the latest addition to Yanmar Marine's range of big power electronic diesels. It is much lighter than anything the com¬petition can offer, at just 855 kilograms dry weight — well over 200 kilos less than some comparable-size engines. It is EPA Tier-2 emissions certified and ready for Tier 3 which comes into force in 2012, making the engine cleaner than today's regulations.

Yanmar produces the only 7.4 litre diesel engines for the pleasure boat market and this unit develops a mighty 530mhp (390kW). The common rail injection system has been designed by Yanmar’s own engineers and the package is completed with a new Yanmar manufactured multiple disk hydraulic down angle gearbox model. The electric actuated new gearbox model KMH70A is available with trolling valves and is interfaced with the NMEA 2000 fully electronic engine control system and LCD displays providing a fully warranted and supported package from Yanmar.

For the technically minded, the new 6CX530 is an electronically governed, common rail, freshwater cooled, six-in-line marine diesel engine displacing 7.4 litres and providing 530mhp at 2,900rpm. It has a water-shrouded dry turbocharger, the power to weight ratio is 0.63mph per kilo, height 933mm, length without gear 1,340mm and width 886mm.

As for the owner who simply wants to enjoy the very best in power boating, the technology-packed 6CX530 includes all the famed Yanmar qualities of value for money, performance, reliability, dura¬bility and environmental care. 'Already the interest shown in this new 6CX-530 model by local boat builders who we have previewed it with is very encouraging for us', said Power Equipment National Marine Sales Manager, Michael Blair.

'Likewise some of our own engineering and sales staff has had the opportunity to attend prototype engine testing and training in Japan in recent months and I am pleased to say they have all returned with much enthusiasm in regards to the impressive performance, unique characteristics and praise for the Japanese design team involved'.

The 6CX-530 will be stocked and available for delivery in Australia during the 2nd quarter of 2009 and will compliment the current 6CX-GTE2 mechanical controlled (500mhp @2900rpm) engine model which forms part of the YANMAR pleasure boat engine range from 9 to 900mhp.

Power Equipment is the exclusive and authorised Australian, PNG and South Pacific distributor of Yanmar Marine and Industrial diesel engines importing product from Yanmar plants in Japan, Asia, USA and Europe. With an extensive marine dealer and branch network, Power Equipment has the expertise and experience to assist boat owners and boat builders for both new installations and repowers.

Power Equipment also distribute the Yanmar powered Mase diesel marine generators range and Gori high quality folding sailboat propellers.
