Clearly the new 'three boat-length' rule does not apply to nuclear submarines! It is still unclear whether us, the French, or both are required to perform a 270, but given that the government appears very capable of 180s, we may be more than half-way there already.
Bumps in the Illusion class are also common, even with the integrated anti-sonar devices of Rudy Jurg and Raymond Simonds.
Mark Downer stayed mostly out of ear-shot but was reported to have heard the occasional 'whoop, whoop' from the competition.
James Axtell proved that he knows his U-boat from his U-bend and Richard Ambler also upped his periscope.
Sunday brought the most perfect conditions for 'Das Boots'. The clear harbour enabled the race officers to lay a good long course. Nineteen entrants over the weekend made for busy and exciting racing. Next event is our Nationals.
Illusion Valentine Trophy - Final Results:
1st Mark Downer
2nd Rudy Jurg
3rd Raymond Simonds
4th James Axtell
5th Richard Ambler
6th Jo Downer
