World's first true superboat makes waves

The XSR48 is a supercar on water. MIAA
Dubbed “the most beautiful thing ever created by man” by BBC Top Gear presenter, Jeremy Clarkson, the XSR48 made its launch at the Monaco Yacht Show last year. The first boat has since been delivered to her owner on the Cote d’Azur, where it has become a local celebrity and the most exhilarating way to beat the traffic jam between Monaco and St Tropez.

It has a total of 1600hp from two bi-turbo diesel engines, giving the XSR48 supercar acceleration to match its stunning appearance.

“The XSR48 is a union between the world’s top designers, engineers and craftsmen to create the perfect platform for harnessing state of the art design, technology and ultimate power. It truly is a supercar on water,” said Ian Sanderson, CEO and Founder, XSMG Marine.

Four further production boats are under construction at XSMG Marine's premises in Southampton, UK – a 1,700m2 state-of-the-art factory.

Collaborators on the project include legendary hull designer Fabio Buzzi, award-winning superyacht designers Redman Whiteley Dixon and High Modulus composite marine structures.

The XSR48 is capable of speeds of 70 knots in standard form.

Priced at £1.3m, the 48ft XSR48 is one of the world’s most technologically-advanced and safest high speed craft; with a strong monocoque hull/deck structure manufactured in Kevlar/carbon-fibre. The supercar feel comes from the refined interior; clean lines and technical materials have displaced usual powerboat aesthetics. Light and space have been carefully considered throughout the cabin, and below deck there is around 40% more space, an effect enhanced by a special glass roof to create a light and airy atmosphere inside.
