The new #26 Team Donzi Racing outfit has unveiled the new Donzi 38ZRC hull in which it hopes to be challenging for this year’s SuperSport class crown.
The outfit raced in the season-closing events in Spain and Portugal last year as #26 Team Konrad, scoring two points finishes in Spain and fourth place in the Portugal sprint.
Pilots Dan Cramphorn and Kim Collins tested the new Donzi 38ZRC hull at the Bernico’s factory in Willebroek, Belgium, last weekend.
'We’ve worked hard on the new boat and we’re ready to start our first full season in Powerboat P1,' the outfit said in a statement. 'Dan Cramphorn and Kim Collins are very happy with the Donzi setup. The hull is perfect, the engines and drives are reliable, it gives us strong performance and we’re sure to obtain very good results in the SuperSport class in Powerboat P1 in 2009. We can’t wait to start… and win!'
A new, budding Powerboat P1 team from the Ukraine is set to unveil its plans to contest the SuperSport class in 2009.
The as-yet-unnamed outfit – the first team from an Eastern European country to contest offshore racing’s fastest growing championship – will announce its line-up in Malta on February 20-21.
The new team is set to use a new Chaudron 41 hull – the same hull from the Maltese family concern of Charlie Ciantar that has won the SuperSport class the last two years at the hands of double champion Angelo Tedeschi.
Unlike the title-winning #44 Conam Yachts boat, though, the new Ukrainian team are understood to be using 570bhp Ilmor engines, rather than powerplants from Mercury Racing.
