Snedden leads 2009 Zephyr Nationals after Day 2.

by Rob Ebert on 23 Jan 2009

42 competitors entered for this years Zephyr Nationals at Lyttleton, in New Zealand's South Island.

Lyttelton Harbour turned on superb conditions, a sea breeze building to 14 knots in the afternoon for the first two races. Local sailor Matthew Hix leads from Aucklanders Steve Pyatt and Tim Snedden, followed by Cantabrian Matt Hannah.

The equally important social programme kicked off with an after racing BBQ.

Three races were completed today in steadily increasing Easterly conditions, peaking at around 17knots for the final race. Conditions are generally favouring the skippers that prefer the breeze, but results so far indicate nobody is dominating. Three races are scheduled for tomorrow.
