Grant Alderson and Dean Mcaullay of Australia are the new Flying Fifteen World Champions. Finishing the final race in third place and one place ahead of Britain's Barry Parkin and Tim Hall was enough to clinch the Title.

With everything depending on which of the two leading contenders, Alderton or Parkin, finished ahead, it was the Aussie pair who crossed the line ahead of the Brits for the Flying Fifteen International 17th World Championship. Final race winners were Aaron Goodmanson and Alister Rowlands of New Zealand, with Steve Goacher and Phil Evans in second.

Unluckiest crew of the regatta were the defending world champions, Mike Hart and Richard Rigg, who finished fifth in the final race, which would have been more than sufficent for them to easily take the world title, had they not had a DSQ in Race 3 over a port and starboard incident soon after the start.

In the Classic Fleet, Britain's Andy Mckee and Maf Smith (GBR 2523) won by five points from Clive Arnold and Phillip Parish (AUS 2251) with Reagan Bear and Les Kearney (AUS 962) in third.

In the Silver Fleet, Steve and Megan Cranch (NZL 3167) had a clean sheet to wrap-up the title. Ronald Joseph and Laurie Hatch (AUS 3058) are in second and David and Michael Arnold (AUS 1690) third.

The next world championship will be sailed at Hayling Island SC, England in 2011.
