Young Yacht Designer of the Year Award SW
A transformation will come to the life of one young yacht designer in 2009. If you are, or you know of, a young yacht designer who would like to zoom straight to the top in the world of yacht designers, think about entering the 'Young Designer of the Year Award Competition, 2009

The Young Designer of the Year Award Competition 2009 is open to anyone who is studying for a degree or vocational qualification in a subject related to yacht or small craft design, or anyone who has already graduated within three years of the closing date for entries (31st January 2009).

A world-class judging panel comprised of the industry's leading designers and industry members will meet in London early next year to decide which aspiring young designer will take home the prestigious award and ?5,000 prize money.

The winner will be invited to accept the award at the World Superyacht Awards gala evening on 15th May 2009 and attend the Superyacht Design Symposium in New York City on 26th and 27th October 2009.

The winner was Fadi Pataq, a student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit USA for his designs for a 70.26m steel and aluminium motor yacht called Pelagia. The judges felt his design clearly brought together art and engineering to achieve the essential balance of form and function.

'The award ceremony was spectacular. I met a lot of industry lead designers and builders that night and the award really boosted my career. I had a few offers on the table on the night and made a lot of great contacts.' said Fadi Pataq of his win.
