Bay of Islands Sailing Week January 20 – 23, 2009

It’s getting close – Just over seven weeks from the end of November; the Bay of Islands will again be a symmetry of sails

STOP PRESS: ‘Sports Boat’ Bay Courses have been re-vamped by the Race Committee to provide more Windward work, making the Magic 25s more competitive. In the past there’s been too much Reaching. The Bay Regatta provides ‘variety and change’ so racing yachts don’t get the ‘same-old same-old courses’ feeling.

STOP PRESS: Yet another Division – Multi-Hulls... The Multi Hull Association made contact - asking the Committee if they could join in the fun and games at Bay Week. The answer was an easy 'YES'.

More on the Shirts and hats 2009 – Peter Warren shown here wearing our Polo Shirt and Hat, is racing VIPER at the 2009 Bay Regatta; after 3 x Americas Cups, 13 x Maxi Boat Regattas etc etc. Peter said 'Can’t wait to race in my own back-yard'.

To secure personalized polo shirts, contact David direct at DD Gold in Kerikeri. Phone:(09) 407-1527 email logo@ddgold.co.nz.;

The official Bay of Islands Sailing Week shirts will also be on sale at the regatta.

Passage Divisions: Initially we said 'to qualify for these divisions boats must have full interior, oven, and closed off toilet'. These two Passage Divisions are proving very popular – many requests are coming in 'Does my boat comply because I don’t have an oven and I don’t like Windward-Leeward’s'. So - We are going to bend our own rules just a little. - Result? Any cruising boats wishing to sail in the Passage Divisions – CAN DO! It will be General Handicap racing; the handicaps will be adjusted daily and we will not allow ‘speedsters’ to have an advantage.
