Launching for Sail Auckland 2008 Event Media

Sail Auckland have announced their continued sponsorship and association with Singapore Airlines.

Auckland’s largest dinghy sailing event is now in it’s twelfth year and has been sponsored by Singapore Airlines for the past two years.

Chairman of Singapore Airlines Sail Auckland Regatta, Alan Bilkey along with Sponsor Co-ordinator Ivan Raos commented ‘We are extremely delighted to have Singapore Airlines onboard again this year. We have built a great association with them and many of the overseas competitors are able to enjoy heavily subsidised airfares, which makes our event extremely attractive to foreign individuals or teams. This in turn makes for very healthy competition for the New Zealand sailors.'

The ISAF Grade 1 event will be held between 4th – 8th February next year and boasts 12 different dinghy classes including the RS:X windsurf board in which New Zealander Tom Ashley won Gold in the recent Beijing Olympics.

The regatta is based out of the Kohimarama Yacht Club and can be viewed almost anywhere along Auckland’s Tamaki Drive making this a fantastic summer spectacle of sailing. With 250 Competitors’ swarming into the area this competition is a full on week for the event committee and extensive group of volunteers.
If you would like/are able to volunteer some time to the regatta please email info@sailauckland.org.nz - we would love to have you onboard!

Registrations are now open online at www.sailauckland.org.nz and you can check there for Notice of Race, further details and an updated list of competitors as they check in.
