Are you tired of getting shouted at from the back of the boat?
Do you want to know more about why the boat goes fast (or not, as the case may be)?
Are you a glutton for punishment?
If the answer to any of the above is ‘Yes’, then the HK Sportsboat Assoc has the solution for you!
The Hong Kong sportsboat fleet is growing quickly, and we have a lot of new sailors eager to develop their skills to perfection. We will therefore have a crew seminar for anyone that would like to learn more about tuning the sails and getting a boat to sail faster.
The seminar will focus on the following:
1. Terminologies of trim (Cunningham, Out-haul, Vang,etc.)
2. Action and reaction of the methods described in 1.
3. Base observation in terms of volume and shape of the sails.
4. Base air flux and aerodynamic base.
5. Basic tuning rules for jib and mainsail.
6. How to adapt to water and wind conditions.
7. Interaction between trim methods.
8. Question and answer session.
The seminar will be held by our very own expert Thierry Barot who has great experience with tuning boats from large Americas Cup yachts to the new fast Longtzes.
When: Tuesday 18 November at 2000hrs
Where: At RHKYC, Kellett Island, Pat Loseby Room
Cost: FREE for HKSA members. (For those who are not yet members, you can become a member before the seminar). The seminar will be about 90 minutes and drinks and snacks will be supplied.
