We asked Brent Vaughan,the Marketing Manager from Seawind to explain the how what and when of Webinars.
Vaughan explains ‘A Webinar is one of the easiest and most convenient things you can do on the net to get really good interactive information from experts in a fairly short period of time. It doesn’t cost anything , you simply register, then at the time of the Webinar, you just sign in, dial a 1800 number – it all happens within a couple of seconds – and suddenly, on your own computer screen, there is a easy to follow but quite detailed live presentation, with commentary given over the phone.
'The webinars we are running focus on Charter Boat Investments and on Seawind syndicates and how they operate.
'We explain how the booking system works on our computer system – so syndicate shareholders can manage and swap time with other users and between shareholders of the syndicates. It much easier to see it in action to understand how it works. We can give a breakdown on how the costs work together
'This works really well online and it does not matter where you are located. The presentation’s delivered to your laptop or computer screen at lunch time, at work or at night time with the family. We’ve been doing two sessions at one o’clock and at seven o’clock.
'It’s fantastic. I’ve been involved in quite a few and it’s a user friendly way to get information without having to leave your desk.
'All you need is reasonable broadband speed, with either a PC or a Mac and a phone line. It’s just your normal phone – landline phone preferred but mobile’s fine also – because all of the commentary we provide is done over your normal phone. So participants are listening on the phone while they’re seeing something happening on the screen.
'It’s like watching a PowerPoint presentation, on a conference call, with perhaps half a dozen different people all looking at the one presentation and able to ask quests of the presenter and hearing answers to other peoples questions too.
'Last week during the half hour Seawind Webinars, we had people in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Mackay, Hong Kong and the UK, all dialled in to the one conference and same free Webinar.
'During the presentation we put everyone on mute to prevent background noise – but there’s a little chat box you can type in questions. So if a question pops up on my screen we will explain the answer to that question as we’re going through – and then right at the end we take everyone off mute and we have an open interactive session – that spurs on a bit of discussion about areas that we may not even have in our presentation.
'People who want to participate can book on the Seawind site to join a Webinars. On our events page, there are hyperlinks to each event we’re hosting and how you register.
'So you leave some basic details there, and we send out instructions once we’ve received that registration – it’s very simple and easy.
'We’re doing Webinars on our Syndication and charter boat ownership.
'Syndication is a concept that certain generates lots of questions and the charter discussions are well suited to this format too. We go through a lot of detail, particularly with the financial side. We’re getting Mark O’Donoghue from Finlease online too and he will be answering questions on finance and tax related questions.'
In summary, from the comfort of your own desk, you can participate in a live Webinar, with a presentation displayed on your computer screen and commentary over the phone, with the ability to ask questions during and following the presentation.
