Jackson Yacht Services Bay Race series in Jersey
by Bill Harris on 15 Oct 2008
The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club's annual Jackson Yacht Services Bay Race series takes place in St Aubin's Bay, Jersey, this coming Sunday, 19 October.
This is the final mixed fleets regatta of the Island's 2008 sailing season, comprising back-to-back racing for sportsboat, cruiser/racer, dayboat and sport-catamaran classes.
Racing gets underway at 09:00 hrs with the first race for boats in the sportsboat and IRC 1 cruiser/racer classes.
With a moderate to fresh southerly breeze currently being forecast, conditions seem to be set fair for some excellent racing.
In 2008, overall honours in the IRC fleet went to David Jones' First 34.7, Jackana, with Mark Tucker's Westerly Merlin, Lisia, taking the club handicap title.
David Jones' La Rocque dayboat, Jigsaw, won the Dayboat Class whilst Gordon Burgis and Ken Snell took the sport-catamaran title sailing their Hobie 16, Pure Energy.
The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for this open meeting are available from the RCIYC, Jersey and www.rciyc.org
