Oceanfast unveils first of new range

by Oceanfast Media on 25 Sep 2008 Australian luxury motor yacht builder Oceanfast has launched the first of its new range of vessels - the 36 metre 'Eendracht', soon to be followed by a 48 metre currently under construction.

The vessel's owner – Austal founder John Rothwell - hopes to spend several months each year onboard 'Eendracht' after stepping down from the day-to-day running of the business in August after 20 years at the helm. John will continue to act as Non Executive Chairman with the company.

Searching for a well finished, practical vessel to suit his interest in long distance cruising, Mr Rothwell decided to utilise the word-class aluminium yacht building and engineering experience available in his own company – famous for award-winning motor yachts such as 'Aussie Rules'.

With a cruising speed of 12 knots and an impressive 3000 nautical mile range, 'Eendracht' is suited to exploring the most remote areas of Australia's vast coastline, as well as neighbouring international waters, in style and comfort.

The vessel's two MTU 8V 2000 diesel engines provide a maximum speed of 16 knots and economical fuel consumption of 120 litres per hour (including generators) at cruising speed. A smooth ride is assisted with the installation of an active fin stabiliser system.

Boasting a clean, modern and understated interior, with owner and guest areas comparable to that of a much larger vessel, 'Eendracht' offers unrivalled living space for a vessel of its size without sacrificing practicality.

Three guest rooms, each finished with American Oak timber veneer and boasting ensuites featuring gloss teak floors with white inlay, are situated on the lower deck located aft of the vessel's two crew cabins, with access to equipment lockers positioned within the yacht's bow.

Stairs lead up to the main deck's full beam 70sqm saloon, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic water views from both sides and access to a large undercover outdoor entertaining area via stainless steel sliding doors located aft.

Carved from a solid piece of Marri timber from Australia's south west is the saloon's showpiece two metre dining table, while a centrally located cabinet conceals a 42' LCD screen on a powered lift. Local jarrah furniture is featured throughout the vessel, with American Cherry timber veneers applied in the saloon as well in the owner's stateroom and ensuite, which is positioned across the entire beam forward of the saloon ensuring comfort and privacy. Separating the two areas is the culinary heart of the vessel - a fully appointed stainless steel galley.

Sun-lovers are well catered for by the upper deck's six-person heated Jacuzzi and sun decks, while stateof-the-art navigational and communication equipment is installed in the wheelhouse. Also onboard are 6.4 metre and 3.9 metre tenders for snorkelling and fishing trips.

'Eendracht' will soon commence charter operations based out of Cairns, Queensland following a seven week delivery voyage which includes several stops along Western Australia's northern coastline.

The 36 metre motor yacht is the first delivery of Oceanfast's new range of semi-custom private vessels designed for owners seeking a high quality, well engineered and functional yacht at a price level that makes sense.

Oceanfast's new range will be rounded out with 48 metre and 60 metre variants, each vessel designed to achieve a balance between style and practicality, while maintaining the quality construction and fitout synonymous with Oceanfast.

Construction is already underway on Oceanfast's 48 metre vessel, which is being built on spec and is due for completion in April 2009 at its facility in Henderson, Western Australia. The vessel will be available for delivery in May 2009.

The Oceanfast 48 will be equally at home cruising a remote coastline as it is docked in any of the world's finest marinas. Considering both aesthetics and ease of operation, the Oceanfast 48 can perform as a fully crewed super yacht on the charter market or equally can be operated short handed by an owner who wishes a more direct involvement and low profile cruising approach.

A well laid out engine room separates the four guest cabins from an aft lazarette supporting diving and leisure activities on the external swim platform. In the forward sections are the crew living areas incorporating four bunk cabins.

Living and entertainment space is abundant on the Oceanfast 48 starting with the teak lined aft deck which leads into a full beam saloon surrounded by panoramic windows that take you to the water's edge. A fully equipped galley separates the forward owner's cabin that also enjoys full beam comfort and privacy.

If outdoor entertainment appeals the upper deck provides the flexibility for every occasion. The large teak lined external deck can cater for an intimate dinner table setting or large party in combination with an indoor-outdoor lounge area connected via fully opening bi-fold doors.

The forward wheelhouse features an elevated lounge suite for guests to share the adventure on long range passages with direct access to a dual access cabin serving either the captain or additional guests depending on an owner's preferred configuration.

A large teak lined deck compliments the upper deck outdoor entertainment area with a large raised spa – sunpad – bar area located forward, all protected by a mix of fixed and removable overhead shade coverings.

Two MTU 10V 2000s producing 900kW each provide a maximum speed of 16 knots and a range of 4000nm at a cruising speed of 12 knots.
