The Annual Adrenalin Fix for High Performance Sailors - The 6th annual Holt Tide Ride is set to take place over the weekend of the 4 and 5 of October.
Hosted by Hayling Island Sailing Club, and set right in front of the clubhouse, the Holt Tide Ride provides fast-paced, high skill, white knuckle racing, the calibre of which you’ll find at few other events. Beginning with short course elimination heats and climaxing in a sudden death final, this is ‘crash and burn’ racing at its best.
'This event is as extreme as it gets in sailing with perhaps the exception of the recent 49er medal race in Qingdao' explains Holt’s director Ben Dunton. 'Hayling Island is the perfect venue with the race course just off the club giving spectators a great view of the action and a rare opportunity to witness such extremity and excitement close up.'
This year’s event includes seven classes – RS800s, International 14s, B14s, Musto Skiffs, Laser 4000s, 29ers and introducing for the first time the foiling International Moth.
The qualifying races kick off on Saturday morning at midday in a round robin format. The short courses, either slalom-style or with gates keeps the action compact with maximum boat contact. Meanwhile, on-the-water umpiring ensures fair play reigns. Then, with elimination groups decided for Sunday, the sudden death stage will begin.
A great event for competitors and spectators alike with the Tide Ride Party on the Saturday night, commemorative rash vests, big prizes from Holt with additional prizes this year from Magic Marine. Also in their 6th year of sponsorship, Grapefruit Graphics will once again be supplying the vinyl bow stickers, key components in the legendary smooth running of the event.
With such an extravaganza of an event already it will also be an opportunity to view Holt’s next generation Performance Hardware range, including the 30mm Dynamic-Pro blocks.
Entry for each class is limited so we advise early on-line entry - before 21 September - at www.hisc.co.uk
