Wade and McGrane take UK Fireball title

Dave Wade and Ben McGrane won the 2008 UK Fireball Nationals hosted by Mounts Bay SC. Two chasing teams, Chips Howarth and Vyv Townsend, and Matt Mee and Richard Wagstaff put in strong challenges on the final day.

Mee and Wagstaff won the penultimate race with Wade and McGrane third. Then Howarth and Townsend won the final race but Wade and McGrane managed to finish second and take the title by one point. Howarth and Townsend finished second overall with Mee and Wagstaff third.

A point of interest on Thursday was the relative performance of its two wing foils - one to the new AC75 Class Rule, the other a legacy foil used in the 2021 America's Cup.
