Hyde Sails have appointed Intersail Australia managed by Rick Byerley as their distributor in Queensland.

Intersail Australia is based in Brisbane and Rick has been involved in Sails for 33 years.

Rick has been competitively sailing since the age of 12, initially in Auckland NZ in one man dinghy classes progressing to 12' and 18' Skiffs then yachts.

In 1980 Rick moved to Sydney where he was involved in the Sydney offshore scene including several Sydney-Hobart races and other major blue water events in Australia and internationally.

After his move to Brisbane, Rick continued sailmaking for several years. After a short break, Intersail was established and offers a complete repair and consultancy service to Hyde customers.

The Australian sail market is key area of business for Hyde and Intersail will be supplied direct from the sail loft in Cebu. The company will also interact with the design team based in the UK.

Following his appointment Rick commented: 'I was supplied with sails from Cebu for two Intersail clients earlier this year. I was impressed with the high standard of workmanship and the efficiency of the Cebu operation in getting the sails to me promptly. I am delighted with the opportunity to offer such a great value and excellent quality product to our market.'
